ITAC Announces Results of Child Identity Fraud Report
Javelin Strategy & Research survey offers new insight into crime

ITAC, the Identity Theft Assistance Center, today announced the findings of the 2012 Child Identity Fraud Survey, conducted by Javelin Strategy & Research and sponsored by ITAC. The survey found that one in 40 households with children under age 18 had at least one child whose personal information was compromised by identity criminals.

ITAC testifies on the role of credit reporting and identity theft at consumer financial protection bureau hearing
ITAC, testified today that it has helped more than 110,000 consumers recover from identity theft, including 2850 consumers from Michigan, at a field hearing on credit reporting held by the Consumer Financial Protection Board (CPFB). Seventy Percent of Identity Theft Victims Helped by ITAC Report They Do Not Know the Source of the Crime
Nearly 70% of the 2,695 victims who used ITAC Victim Assistance in 2011 do not know the source of the crime, according to a survey by ITAC, the Identity Theft Assistance Center. Of the victims who did know the source of the crime, more than a quarter said it was computer related (hacker/virus/phishing). Read more...
